Schedule A Tour!
Finding childcare in 89032 is overwhelming.
You Google, you call, you tour, and every place says "we love kids!" But how do you actually know who will love YOUR kid like you do?
After years of caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers at Destinee's Butterflies Childcare LLC, we've learned exactly what separates a great daycare from just an okay one.
Here are the 5 signs you’ve found the right one.
1. The Ratio Feels Like Family, Not a Crowd
The Green Flag: You walk in and the provider actually sees your child. She kneels down, says hello, and knows every child’s name.
In Nevada, the state allows high child-to-provider ratios. The best daycares in North Las Vegas choose to stay SMALLER than required.
At Destinee's Butterflies on Glass Lantern Dr, we intentionally keep our group small. Why? Because a toddler having a meltdown needs a lap, not a number. An infant needs eye contact while bottle-feeding. You cannot do that with 12 toddlers to one adult.
Ask on your tour: "What is your actual daily ratio, not just your licensed max? How many children are here on a typical day?"
If they can't answer immediately or the room feels chaotic — that's your answer.
2. It’s Clean, Safe, and Licensed — And They’re Proud to Prove It
The Green Flag: You see the license posted. Cleaning supplies locked. Outlet covers. Gated stairs. First aid kit visible. And they BRING UP safety before you do.
A great provider in North Las Vegas will be licensed through the State of Nevada, CPR/First Aid certified, background-checked, and insured. They should have a clear illness policy, safe sleep policy for infants, and a secure entry system.
At our home at 4123 Glass Lantern Dr, we have:
Fully fenced and shaded outdoor play area
Child-proofed indoor space with age-separated toys
Strict sanitizing schedule (toys, cots, highchairs daily)
Emergency plan and daily safety checks
Ask on your tour: "Can I see your license and CPR card? What is your sick policy and your safe sleep policy?"
RED FLAG #1 TO RUN FROM: "We’re working on getting licensed" or "We don’t need a license for this many kids." In Nevada, that’s not a gray area. Licensed = accountable.
3. Communication is Daily, Honest, and Two-Way
The Green Flag: You get more than a "good day!" at pickup.
The right daycare tells you: How much they ate. When they napped. How many diapers. What they learned. And how they FELT.
At Destinee's Butterflies, every family gets a daily report with photos. If your baby had a tough morning, you’ll know. If your preschooler finally wrote their name, you’ll get the video.
We also want to hear from YOU. Did they have a rough night? New allergy? Big milestone? We partner, we don’t just provide care.
Ask on your tour: "How will I know about my child’s day? Will I get photos? How do you handle concerns?"
RED FLAG #2 TO RUN FROM: You ask how your child’s day was and get "Oh, fine" with no details. If they don’t track it, they didn’t notice it.
4. There’s a Real Curriculum — Not Just Free Play All Day
The Green Flag: The walls show children’s art (not perfect printouts), there’s a daily schedule, and the provider can explain WHY they are doing an activity.
Free play is vital. But children also need intentional learning. Quality childcare in Aliante and 89032 should have a play-based curriculum that builds:
Language & early literacy
Numbers, sorting, STEM
Fine motor (cutting, beading, writing)
Social skills (sharing, waiting, using words)
Kindergarten readiness (confidence, independence)
At our center, Monday’s watercolor painting is really about color mixing and fine motor grip. Tuesday’s block tower is physics and teamwork.
Ask on your tour: "Can you show me your weekly lesson plan? What does school readiness look like here?"
5. Your Child Doesn’t Want to Leave
The Green Flag: This is the biggest one.
On your tour, watch the other children. Do they look happy and engaged? Do they run up to the provider for a hug? When parents come for pickup, do kids say "just 2 more minutes!"
At Destinee's Butterflies, we hear it every week: "My child cries on Saturday because they miss daycare." That’s how you know you found the right place.
Your gut matters. If YOU feel calm, warm, and welcomed, your child will too.
RED FLAG #3 TO RUN FROM: The provider talks more about rules and late fees than about your child. Or children seem scared to approach the adult. Trust your instinct.
